Forest School
Forest School is an important part of our curriculum here at Padbury. It enables children to take risks and be more at one with nature. We are very lucky to be able to offer all of our children Forest School sessions each term. We have a variety of different locations that we use - these include a wooded area near our allotment, or we walk a little further and do different activities in Millennium Woods, in Padbury itself. We also do Forest School activities, including building fires in the school grounds. During forest school, children take part in a range of activities. Some of these are teacher-led, such as using a knife to whittle wood, some are more independent to enable children to learn from experience and make choices.
We are committed to every child having at least 10 outdoor learning sessions each year, whether that is through forest school or through visits to places such as Waddesden Manor, Padbury and Winslow studies and residential outdoor learning establishments. It is important that all children benefit from what outdoor learning can offer.
This fits with our determination to develop our sustainability curriculum and for children to value and appreciate the world around us.
